Fine Woodturnings

I have a passion for working with wood. I enjoy bringing the beauty of each piece of wood to the forefront through the creative process. It’s fulfilling to take what some people would consider just a good piece of firewood and open up the beauty within. Nothing allows that opportunity the way woodturning does. When I begin to turn a piece of wood, I never know what the form will be or what the final product will look like. Each piece is unique and I seek to bring out the best of both my skills and the natural beauty of the medium.

I gather my materials from a number of sources. I lived on the Oregon Coast for many years and often found unique raw materials scattered on the beaches and river banks near my home. I don’t believe in taking live trees, but look for salvage from storm damage, unique pieces from tree removal services, regeneration of fruit orchards, and unusable material from logging operations. In this way, I can bring new life to something that may be disposed of otherwise.
